Because my Vista laptop has a mind and attitude of its own (and because this blogging lark is mainly online - i.e. if I don't prepare off line first) I lost day 3's reflection and wasn't able to do yesterday's either. This resulted in a tantrum Im ashamed of - bloody computers!!! So – anyway, day 3 was good. The delegates had to create learning episodes using the tools and techniques that they had seen the days before. Some began the journey towards understanding NING and others used Blogger as their tool. There were also some nice ideas for the use of Word and PPT in teaching – so these (mainly) young teachers were thinking outside the traditional box. Well done to them.

We started by reviewing yesterday and then invited the group to work in pairs to plan and create a real learning activity. Following this they were asked to show us all their outputs. There were some really good ideas and some really good outputs. I was quite impressed by the combination activities each pair attempted. Some worked between PPT and Word to create learning + formative assessment activities; others developed activites that employed many of the techniques just learned and two pairs used online services (1 x NING and 1 x Blog) to present learning activites. Brilliant.

Another long day. But today seemed so much easier - probably because we knew each other much better. The tables set for dinner last night were much more condusive to getting to know each other and we were able to mix much easier. Today, we began with a morning of theories. Khawar delivered an input about Maslow and then gave the group a floor + prop exercise to arrange the hierarchy of needs using different phrases and words. We’d thought that this morning would be difficult for the group as the language would/might be so hard – but they managed really well.

Actually that's quite an apt title, not that they's pulled down the Tetley Brewery. Never mind. So: phew what a day. I'm knackered and we're on again in 15 minutes for dinner.

This looks an interesting feature - I'll give it a try.
(should be a picture of one of the Anthony Gormley Chocolate men at Crosby)
