Write4net's goal is to make everything quick and easy. In order to publish an article, we only need you to fill title, hashtag (the main subject, like Twitter posts) and text. That's it.
With Write4net's magic codes you can do the rest. Using them you can insert pictures, video and format text without needing buttons and toolbars full of confusing icons. Using Write4net you can format your text with a couple of additional characters.
At first it's funny, but we bet you're going to love it. You just have to type - you won't even use your mouse.
Text formatting
Bold is basic, right? You can bold your text by placing asterisks on the beggining and end.
*word*
Will look like this:
word
To create a subtitle, start the sentence with a period.
. Subtitle
Will look like this:
Subtitle
To format bullet points on your text just start the sentence with a dash:
- Item
Will look like this:
Item
Finally, if you want to highlight paragraphs and insert them into a yellow frame, just place the text between two square brackets, opening and closing, like this:
[[
Framed text
]]
Which will look like this:
Framed text
Plus, you can mix it all together:
[[
. Frame
This is a nice highlight:
- Several items
- To improve your article

Links and media
It's very easy to insert a link on your text. First, place the text you want to make clicable between curly brackets. Then place the "greater than" symbol and the address or email. Like this:
{my clickable text>www.google.com}
Will look like this:
You can insert as many pictures as you want using Write4net on the pictures section, right next to the text field. Using the file manager, upload your pictures (Write4net supports GIF, JPG and PNG formats, maximum size of 200kb).
After uploading your files, you'll see a list of pictures. After each thumbnail there's a code between brackets. Paste the code on the text. That's it :)
If you simply paste the code, the picture will be centered on your text. Check it out:
[favicon.png]
Will look like this:
![]()
But you can also align the picture to the left or right:
[favicon.png :left:] Text
Will look like:
Phasellus porta facilisis urna. Sed quis ipsum ut felis fringilla suscipit. Phasellus vehicula turpis vitae nunc. Curabitur ornare lobortis massa. Suspendisse sodales ornare metus. Aenean vestibulum arcu non lectus. Aliquam placerat velit eu est. Fusce luctus. Sed sit amet ante. In hac habitasse platea dictumst. Donec non libero. Praesent auctor neque in orci. Quisque et nisl.
(To highlight the alignment feature we've place the text in a frame. Remember you can combine format codes!)
So:
[favicon.png :right:] Text
Will display:
Phasellus porta facilisis urna. Sed quis ipsum ut felis fringilla suscipit. Phasellus vehicula turpis vitae nunc. Curabitur ornare lobortis massa. Suspendisse sodales ornare metus. Aenean vestibulum arcu non lectus. Aliquam placerat velit eu est. Fusce luctus. Sed sit amet ante. In hac habitasse platea dictumst. Donec non libero. Praesent auctor neque in orci. Quisque et nisl.
You can also place descriptions on your pictures:
[favicon.png "This is Write4net's icon."]
Looks like:
This is Write4net's icon.
You can also resize pictures:
[favicon.png (60x60)]
Looks like:
![]()
So, you can simultaneously format alignment, description and size of pictures. Just remember that description comes first, then size and then alignment:
[favicon.png "This is Write4net's icon." (60x60) :right:] Text
Will be displayed like this:
This is Write4net's icon.This is Write4net's icon. This is Write4net's icon. Phasellus porta facilisis urna. Sed quis ipsum ut felis fringilla suscipit. Phasellus vehicula turpis vitae nunc. Curabitur ornare lobortis massa. Suspendisse sodales ornare metus. Aenean vestibulum arcu non lectus. Aliquam placerat velit eu est. Fusce luctus. Sed sit amet ante. In hac habitasse platea dictumst. Donec non libero. Praesent auctor neque in orci. Quisque et nisl.
Write4net also supports YouTube, Vimeo and DailyMotion videos. Get the video url, and place it between square brackets:
[www.youtube.com/watch?v=oC4FAyg64OI]
[www.vimeo.com/4918411]
[www.dailymotion.com/video/x370xv_beethoven-symphony-n-7-op-92-i_music]
Will look like this:
Why use magic codes?
They make Write4net much faster than complex text editor interfaces;
Future Write4net client developers can benefit from these codes, once we launch our API;
Give the author an improved control over formatting than traditional interfaces;
They're aligned with the Twitter spirit (hashtags, text only...);
They're a lot more fun, try it out and you'll see! :)
Please note that the last paragraph of your text will always be displayed with ads on the right. Remember that when you format your text.
